The invention relates to a method and to a shipping logistics system for the automatic control and/or regulation of flows of merchandise between at least one transmitting (1) and one receiving (2) subunit of different merchandise management systems (A, B) with at least one data processing system (5, 6) each using a digital processing system (3) with an at least partially accessible, preferably public server (4). The inventive method comprises the following steps: electronically transmitting merchandise shipment-related data from the data processing system (5) of the transmitting or forwarding subunit (1) to the server (4); electronically filing the transmitted data on the server (4); allocating a code for data already transmitted or yet to be transmitted; electronically transmitting at least a part of the transmitted data to the data processing system (6) of the receiving subunit (2) while indicating the code. The inventive method substantially improves the flow of information between sender, recipient or the merchandise management systems thereof, thereby substantially reducing costs. The method is especially suitable for trade associations for measuring flows of merchandise to establish precise data for the purchase of logistics services.
