Igniting thermite mixture involves electrically igniting ignition element having closed container sleeve filled with ignition mixture, and subjecting to slight pressure and corresponding hot flame and/or hot gas
Igniting a thermite mixture comprises electrically igniting an ignition element (5) having a closed container sleeve (8) filled with the ignition mixture (9); and subjecting to a slight pressure and corresponding hot flame and/or hot gas. An Independent claim is also included for a device for carrying out thermite welding. Preferred Features: Ignition is electrically and/or electronically carried out via an ignition rod (10) in the ignition element. The ignition mixture contains 17-27 % aluminum, 63-73 % iron oxide, 4-13 % magnesium and 0-10 % silicic acid.
