Method for controlling user network, especially Internet, accesses in which a number of different access profiles are maintained for different types of access for assignment to a user. The profiles are implemented as an extension to a proxy server (2) that acts as a buffer between an internal network and an external network. Internet access can be matched to type of use, e.g. private, business or project-orientated. The invention also relates to corresponding computer program and data processing system, especially a network server system, for implementing the method.
