Simultaneous detection of diffuse and specular reflections in transparent fluids for e.g. environmental monitoring, quality control, process monitoring and spectroscopy uses radiation evaluation at four positions on plane
The incoming radiation passes from a window (8) onto a sample (7) via a mirror (4) that reflects part of the radiation back to the window, the remaining radiation passing through a lens (3), which focuses it onto the sample. The radiation (IS) specularly reflected at the boundary surface of the window and sample reaches the receiving plane (2). The radiation (ID) diffusely scattered by the sample reaches the receiving plane (2). Four receivers are arranged at different locations on the receiving plane, and the radiation parameters found by solving four equations. An Independent claim is included for an apparatus for performing the method.
