The method involves measuring the primary imbalance and running a test to calculate coefficients of influence (a11,a12,a21,a22) for determination of balancing masses. After balancing the rotor, a check run is performed to determine the remaining imbalance. When an allowable remaining imbalance value is exceeded, new coefficients of influence are calculated from the remaining imbalance and the balancing masses, and new balancing masses are then calculated in order to balance the remaining imbalance. An Independent claim is included for a balancing apparatus.
