Postal system has franking machine(s) for printing tracking/tracing code onto label to identify postal item(s) to which label can be attached before sending, removed after delivery
The system has one or more franking machines (2-4) for printing franking indices on postal items and a postal service (1, 5-7) for delivering postal items (8). The franking machine has an arrangement for printing an identity code onto a label to identify one or more postal items to which the label can be reversibly attached before sending and removed after delivery. The code is used for tracking and tracing. Independent claims are also included for the following: a franking machine, a label for removable attachment to a postal item and a method of tracking and tracing a postal item.
