A terminal, a traffic information centre and a process for transmitting (15, 16) route information concerning a route of a vehicle (13) in a road network (1 to 6) between a traffic information centre (14) and a terminal in a vehicle (13) enable the efficient transmission of route information, in particular in remote areas for which the terminal has no detailed map or list of localities. The route information concerns points (7; 12) lying in the proposed route. A point (7; 12) is defined as the place where the vehicle (13) turns away from a road (1; 5). The route information on each point (7; 12) includes: the following road in the driving direction ('Beethoven-Strasse' 5; 'Bachstrasse' 6); the location of the point; the direction (right to the east; right to the north east) to be followed after the point (7; 12).
