USE OF SELECTIN-BINDING PREGNANCY PROTEINS, LIPOSOMES, NATIVE MUCIN FRAGMENTS AND MIMETIC COMPOUNDS FOR THE TREATMENT AND PROPHYLAXIS OF INFLAMMATORY DISEASES, FOR PREVENTING METASTATIC SPREAD AND FOR THE PROPHYLAXIS OF TUMOUR DISEASES
The invention relates to the use of selectin-binding active ingredients, inthe form of pregnancy proteins or fragments thereof, liposomes containingcalcium-binding compounds, mucin fragments originating from native sources orderived from the same, or mimetic compounds imitating sialylated Lewiscarbohydrate structures, or combinations thereof, for the treatment andprophylaxis of diseases in the development of which inflammatory processesplay a role, for example, auto-immune diseases, transplantations, andarteriosclerosis. Inflammatory diseases in terms of the invention can be of aninfectious or non-infectious nature. The invention also relates to the use ofsaid active ingredients for partially or fully preventing the metastaticspread of tumours. The administration of the active ingredients can be carriedout in a prophylactic manner or in conjunction with, for example, an ablationof the primary tumour or a biopsy. The invention further relates to the use ofsaid active ingredients for the prophylaxis of tumour diseases.
