An illuminated costume promoting safety is disclosed. The inventive costumecomprises a light distributing assembly, comprising a light source and aplurality oflight outputting members optically coupled to the light source, each of themembershaving a light outputting surface. The light outputting members have first andsecond member ends. The first member end are optically coupled to the lightsource. Each of the members has a light outputting surface on its secondmemberend, wherein the light outputting members have various lengths. The lightoutputting members come in at least four different lengths. In accordance withthepreferred embodiment of the present invention the light source is a light-emittingdiode which is driven by either a battery which maintains the light emittingdiodeactive emitting light all times, or the light source may be driven by abatterypowered transistorized power source which causes the lights to blink or followanyother pattern desired.
