When varying the Raman gain or the gain tilt of an opticalamplifier, there is no need to individually adjust the output levelof every pump light source or perform overall adjustment, makingit possible to obtain a targeted gain with little adjustment. Forthis purpose, in a pump light source for Raman amplification foroutputting a plurality of pump lightwaves for effecting Ramanamplification on signal lightwaves input to a light transmissionpath in the light transmission paths the pump light source for Ramanamplification is divided into a shorter wavelength light sourceand a longer wavelength light source which differ in oscillationwavelength; a plurality of lightwaves emitted from the shorterwavelength light source and a lightwave emitted from the longerwavelength light source are coupled and output; and the pluralityof lightwaves output from the shorter wavelength light source orthe lightwave output from the longer wavelength light source iscollectively controlled to adjust the intensity of the output light.
