chimeric genes using the cDNA in antisense orientation glucose transporter-2 (GLUT2) and nonhuman transgenic animals expressing such chimeric genes for use in the study of diabetes mellitus and in the development of therapeutic approaches to the disease. It refers to a chimeric gene using the cDNA (complementary DNA) in inverted orientation GLUT2 glucose transporter driven by a promoter or fusion of promoters. also relates to a chimeric gene obtained by fusion of cDNA GLUT2 antisense orientation to the promoter of the insulin gene and a chimeric gene is obtained by fusion of cDNA GLUT2 antisense orientation to the promoter of the P- enolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK). It also relates to an expression vector that can express GLUT2 antisense RNA in any cell type, in particular a plasmid vector and pInsantiGT2 pRIPantiGT2, a plasmid vector pPCKantiGT2 a vRIPantiGT2 and vInsantiGT2 vectorretrovírico, and a retroviral vector vPCKantiGT2.
