An assembly for the aerobic micro-biological treatment of effluent water consists of a reactor holding a biomass. The reactor has an upper zone and a lower zone. The incoming dirty water enters the upper zone through an inlet pipe (1) where it is mixed with part of the biomass. The water is then fed to the lower zone with a filter and aeration unit (6), consisting of a hollow membrane (7) body with a passage for water and biomass. The hollow chamber (7) within the membrane is linked to a gas supply and a water outlet (10) for filtered water. The hollow chamber (7) serves as an aeration unit during the aeration process, as a filter during the filtration process.
