Washing machines, tumble dries and dishwashers with autotransformer and electric components for European rated voltage (230 V) for the American and Canadian markets as well as all other non-European countries with parameters of the power supply network typical of the voltage range 100 - 125 V and frequencies 50 or 60 Hz are considerably cheaper from washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers with electrical components for the American rated voltage (110 V) and thus completely meet American and Canadian safety standards. The washing machine has a built-in autotransformer (1), which provides the necessary supply voltage for European electric components. In order to minimise the material cost for the autotransformer and the heater as well as the fact that the power of the heater is approximately the same as the operating power of the appliance, the power for the heater (2) comes directly from the supply voltage of the appliance 120 V via relay (3). This makes it possible that the required rated power for which the autotransformer is constructed is only approximately equal to the power of the appliance, which results in considerable lower cost of the autotransformer. Due to the simple construction the heater with rated voltage 120 V is only a few percent more expensive than the 230 V heater.
