"Processes to preserve skeletal muscle mass of a geriatric dog, to improve the composition of the body of a geriatric dog, and to reduce the body fat of a geriatric dog".A process is provided to preserve muscle mass in a geriatric dog skeletal by feeding the dog with a diet containing an effective amount of protein based feed.Preferably, the diet includes more than about 10% by weight of protein based animal in a base of dry matter, and more preferably about 24 to 34% by weight of protein.This diet also provides sufficient protein for improving body composition of the dog and reduce body fat.
