PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the data size of an extended signature and to shorten the time required for the verification of the extended signature by a method for extending the validity of the digital signature before invalidating the digital signature prepared once due to the expiration of a validity term or the like as to digital signature technology.;SOLUTION: A signature extending server 102 inputs a signature extending document (x) 106 including a hash of signed data and prepares a new signature extending document (x+1) 107 including a copy of the hash of the signed data. At the time of verification, the hash of the signed data included in the newest signature extended document (x+1) 107 are compared with the hash of signed data obtained by calculation to verify the hash of the signed data.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
