PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strengthen fatigue strength in a spheroidal graphite cast iron having much ferrite by applying a high frequency induction-surface hardening. SOLUTION: The high frequency induction-surface hardening is applied to the spheroidal graphite cast iron having 400-500 MPa tensile strength, 250-350 MPa 0.2% proof stress, =7% elongation and =30% area ratio of the ferrite in a matrix structure, to generate the compression residual stress and thus, a rotating bending fatigue strength at a room temperature is improved to =350 MPa at 106 times. Further, the fatigue strength can be further improved by applying an ultra-rapid heating-hardening at =2000 deg.C/sec.
