PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active oxygen generation system capable of readily generating for a long generate an time, active oxygen in an amount sufficiently for sterilization and decomposition of an organic compound even in the absence of light.;SOLUTION: A positive electrode is formed in polyaniline layers 1 at both sides of a plate-shaped electroconductive member 2, a agar-gel 3 containing common salt is placed between the positive electrode and an negative electrode (iron) 4 wherein a lead line 5 is connected electrically between them. The polyaniline layers 1 generate active oxygen by feeding electrons to oxygen and become a oxidation state. Because of a lower oxidation-reduction potential of the iron 4 than the polyaniline 1, the former 4 provides the electrons to the poly-aniline 1 via the lead line 5 with a result that the polyaniline layers 1 are reduced.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2001,JPO
