PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map-editing/displaying device for solving the problem that, when updating a unit area of map data, road networks become discontinuous at the border of the updated area and enabling partial update of the map as required by a user.;SOLUTION: In step 22, update processing of a unit area of map is performed using updated map data obtained in step 21. Next, in step 23, for all the data on the border of the updated area, connection relationship regarding to which data in the adjoining area the data should be connected is determined. Finally, in step 24, the data are connected, using the connection relationship, determined in step 23. By updating mapping data as a unit area in this way, the map-editing/displaying device enables update of map data without losing continuity of roads, even when connection relationship is not determined beforehand.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
