PURPOSE: To automate the operation of an AT task file register used in a hard disk drive and a hard disk controller system by automatically updating a counter value and a register value after respective sectors are transferred. ;CONSTITUTION: After respective data sectors were transferred from a host to a disk drive or from the disk drive to the host, a sector counting register 44 is automatically decreased. The value of a sector number register 46 is automatically updated by being compared with the value of a maximum sector register 40 after the respective sectors are transferred. A drive head register 48 is also automatically updated by being compared with the value of a maximum head register 42 when the sector counting register 44 is reloaded. The value of a cylinder low register 50 is updated based on the value stored in the drive head register 48 and a cylinder high register 52 is updated based on the value of the cylinder low register 50.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
