PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively transmit, in the constant bit rate(CBR), the MPEG-4 hybrid encoded data or the like in which a sprite-encoded data and ordinary encoded data exist and eliminate delay of decoding in the receiving side.;SOLUTION: During transmission of a foreground data Sd(i) {d1 to dn} of each frame in the sprite-encoded data St(i) of the i-th sprite shot, a sprite image data Ss(i+1) in the sprite-encoded data St(i+1) of the next (i+1)th sprite shot is transmitted through division into a plurality of pieces s1 to sn in every frame and combination with dj by utilizing the remaining bandwidth.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
