PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide causality model generating method/device, which can easily construct the database of data structure that a person can easily understand for fault diagnosis and can obtain a reliable and clear diagnosis result.;SOLUTION: The causality model between the noticed event of the object of observation and a cause event being the cause is generated. The set of results where the noticed events considered to be identical are set to be elements and the set of causes where the cause events of the respective elements of the set of the results is set to be the element are generated. The set of the results is made to correspond to the set of the causes. When an element being the cause event of the other noticed event exists in the set of the results, the set of the results is made to correspond to the set of the causes which are made to correspond to the set of the results to which the other noticed events belong.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
