PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a total oxygen amount in a molten cast iron by measuring active oxygen quantity in the molten cast iron before a ladle is inserted into a reduced- pressure tank, reducing a pressure in the reduced-pressure tank after the ladle is inserted thereinto and measuring the total oxygen amount in the molten cast iron and trace oxygen in an atmosphere in the reduced-pressure tank. SOLUTION: A liquid metal 2a of cast iron or the like is put in the ladle 2 from a melting furnace 1. An oxygen sensor A1 provided in an arithmetic type recorder A is inserted into a liquid metal 3a in the ladle 3 and active oxygen quantity and a liquid metal temperature are checked. The ladle 4 is inserted into the reduced- pressure tank C and a pressure in the tank is adjusted so as to be a predetermined pressure by a vacuum pump. Trace oxygen in an atmosphere in the reduced tank C is controlled by a control unit E using a zirconia ceramic sensor E1. Oxygen quantity in a liquid metal 4a in the ladle 4 is controlled by an oxygen sensor 2. All measurement are input to a control section F and a liquid metal 5a is poured into a mold 6 at a point when conditions are adjusted so that an ultra-thin cast iron can be produced.
