PURPOSE: To measure a difference of elevation between measured points in a short time in the normal stage. ;CONSTITUTION: Measurement point water tanks 11 are horizontally placed on positions (1)-(N). A reference water tank 12 provided on a fixing position is communicated to each of the measurement point water tanks 11 by pipes 13, 14 in respective lower part. A floating member 26 is provided on a water surface of the reference water tank 12. A laser distance meter 28 outputs a signal designating a position of the floating member 26. In the normal stage, while water is supplied to the reference water tank 12 from a supply tank 19 by dropping thereto, a water level of only the measurement point water tank 11n of the representative measurement point (n) is measured on a side of the reference water tank 12, then a difference of elevation of the measurement positions is measured in a short time. When the measured value is an abnormal or a prescribed time has elapsed, the dropping supply is stopped and levels of all of the measurement point water tanks 11 are measured on the side of the reference water tank 12. Thus, the reduction of the measuring time in the normal stage and reliable detection of the abnormality of the difference elevation are reconciled.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
