PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for remediation of soil and ground water from contamination which is capable of efficiently separately and removing a nonaqueous phase liquid of groundwater by a simple means.;SOLUTION: The method for remediating the soil and groundwater contaminated by volatile organic compounds by sucking of soil gas 7 and lifting of the groundwater 9 consists in injecting hot water into the soil or the groundwater. More specifically, the method for remediating the soil and groundwater contaminated by the volatile organic compounds by the suction of the soil gas and the lifting of the groundwater consists in injecting steam 11 into the soil or the groundwater to elevate the temperature, promoting vaporization 7 of the volatile organic compounds and simultaneously positively lifting the groundwater 9 and admitting the treated water 10 of the groundwater lifted at this time into a steam injection well 3 to form the hot water. This hot water moves in the groundwater, by which the temperature elevation of the soil and groundwater themselves and the fluidization of the groundwater 9 are made possible.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
