PURPOSE: To produce the corrosion resistant aluminum bronze alloy improved in hot expandability by imparting the hot expandability equiv. to the hot expandability of an α+β two-phase alloy to this aluminum bronze alloy even if the alloy has the corrosion resistance equiv. to the corrosion resistance of an α single phase aluminum bronze. ;CONSTITUTION: This aluminum alloy contains, by weight, 3 to 8% Al and 1 to 5% Si and either or both of 0.2 to 3% components of either one or two kinds of Sn and Cr or 0.2 to 3% of components of either one or two kinds of Pb and Ni an addition to these Al and Si components and consists of the balance Cu and incidental inevitable impurities. The excellent expandability of this alloy causes the two phases α+β at a hot expanding temp. (700 to 800°C). In addition, the alloy in the α single phase at ≤650°C service temp. and, therefore, the alloy exhibits the corrosion resistance of the α single phase aluminum bronze in the ordinary service temp. region. This alloy is optimal for use in parts for high-temp. corrosion resistance to be produced by using an expansion method, such as precision casting and hot extruding.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO
