Imagination is provided by altering components of a vector representing knowledge, using a variation characteristic adjustable as a function of a parameter dependent on the information produced. A Boltzmann function is suitable. The novelty of information produced is measured by the vector distance from the original vector. A feedback loop uses the novelty to control the distribution function.
