The pressure regulator for a semi-automatic carbine comprises a tube (3) mounted in a ferrule (2) attached to the carbine. The bore (3a) of the tube is connected to the bore (1a) of the weapon by a channel (10). The tube is mounted in a cavity (4a) in a counterweight (4) which can slide on a rod (5) against the force of a biasing spring (6). The counterweight is connected by rods to a safety catch which cooperates with the base of the cartridge. A screw (9) is fitted in the ferrule and screws into an internally threaded bore (9b) which is coaxial with the tube bore (3a) and has an extension (9c) of smaller diameter which is positioned where the gas channel (10) intersects with the bore.
