System, for protecting refuge island in tunnel against fire and toxic emanations, includes series of nozzles which spray water mist inside refuge island, and over fire doors and walls
System includes main pipelines extending along length of tunnel, secondary pipelines (3), derived from main pipelines (2), automatic (7), pyrotechnic (13) or manual (6) valves. Water nozzles (4) are placed along secondary pipelines, and spread water over fire doors (19) and wall (23) separating refuge island (18) from tunnel. Different water nozzles (24, 25) are used to permanently fill in safety lock (17), and to spray water mist inside refuge islands where people are gathered.
