A method for utilizing and stabilizing waste of animal, urban or industrial origin (e.g. from the food or petroleum industry) involves (a) treating the waste with calcium oxide in an amount of 5-100%, (b) mixing and homogenizing to cause exothermic reaction; and (c) solidifying the mixture in powdered form by addition of calcium oxide particles of size 0.3-0.5 mm.
