Method to scan printed document in front of and against background; involves scanning document and background at lower resolution, determining contours of document and re-scanning at higher resolution
The method involves using a scanner (14), with which the document (20) and the background are scanned at a lower resolution. The document is distinguished from the background and the contours of the document are determined before scanning at a finer resolution. To distinguish the document, a coarse view (22) of the image is converted into a binary bitmap image, preferably in real time. An Independent claim is included for a device with a scanner to implement the method.
