Portable defibrillation system e.g. used to treat cardiac arrest has combined electrode and battery supply module physically coupled to portable external defibrillator to ensure availability of e.g. pads, leads and gloves
The defibrillation system (8) has an automatic external defibrillator and a supply module (14) for connection with defibrillator. The supply module is coupled to defibrillator ensuring availability of the items, and also electrically coupled to defibrillator reducing amount of time required to deploy the defibrillator in an emergency. Items containable include pads (34), EGG leads, gloves, scissors, PCMCIA cards and defibrillator batteries (32). The supply module may be provided with a visible or electronically readable expiry date of the supply module or one or more items contained by the supply module. A memory (38) or other circuitry may be provided on the supply module to communicate with the defibrillator prior to, during or after operation of the defibrillator to exchange information between the supply module, defibrillator, defibrillator operator and defibrillator maintenance personnel.
