A coating for passive surface damping of the vibrating surfaces of building components with granulate- and/or grain, and/or lamella piezo particles, embedded in at least 10% by volume in at least one matrix forming polymer, where at least some of the piezo particles (1) have zero polarization in subsequent particle polarization is new. Independent claims are included for : (1) a semifinished product, where the coating (3,3'.3'') is a previously prepared film which is subsequently adhesive bonded to a building component (substrate 9); (2) a mixture for preparation of the coating, e.g. by spraying, in which the mixture contains a polymer mixture (6) and/or its starting material, and the piezo particles (1) are mixed with the polymer (6) and/or its starting material; (3) preparation of the coating with preparation of a particle-containing flexible film with the polymer (6) and/or its starting material and particles (1), where particles (1) of polarization different from zero are used, and the film is applied or adhesive bonded to the building component surface (substrate 9).
