The circuit has a first stage (18) in electrical communication with a CAN bus (12) and configured to monitor an electrical operating parameter associated with the operation off the CAN bus, a second stage (24) in electrical communication with the first stage and selectively activated by the first stage to terminate the CAN bus when activated. An independent claim is also included for a CAN bus system and for a method of automatic CAN bus termination.
