The method involves coupling out part of the forward power from the end stage and part of the reverse power reflected by the antenna, detecting the actual forward value in a forward control loop, comparing it with a desired value from a table and varying the end stage transmission power accordingly. The actual reverse value is detected and compared with a desired value; if the desired value is exceeded the desired forward value can be altered. The method involves coupling out part of the forward power from the end stage and a further part of the reverse power reflected by the antenna from between the end stage (4) and the antenna (7), detecting the actual forward value (15.2) in a forward control loop, comparing it with a desired value (16.2) from a table and varying the end stage transmission power accordingly. The actual reverse value (15.1) is detected and compared with a desired value (16.1); if the desired value is exceeded the desired forward value can be altered. Independent claims are also included for the following: a mobile radio device.
