The method involves using multiple spare parts stores (E1-En), collecting information regarding the holdings in the spare parts stores centrally and using it to cover the current demand. Each store is associated with at least one system (A1-An). A digital information pattern containing information about the stores holding of a spare part or working material in one of the stores is stored in a central recording device (11) after transmission to it. Independent claims are also included for the following: an arrangement for supporting the maintenance of a group of technical systems, especially power stations.
