Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and high impact polystyrene (HIPS) molding compositions are prepared by polymerization in the presence of a rubber-containing solution. The solution is prepared by polymerization of diolefins in a solution of vinyl aromatic monomers in the presence of a catalyst containing (A) a rare earth metal compound, (B) optionally a cyclopentadiene and (C) an organoaluminum compound. An Independent claim is also included for molded and extruded articles prepared from the composition.
