Vegetative propagation of blackberry plants with multiple genetically identical descendants, by immersing cuttings in potassium permanganate solution and growing in loose soil
Vegetative propagation of blackberry plants with multiple genetically identical descendants, is new. Vegetative propagation of blackberry plants comprises: (i) taking 25-35 cm cuttings between the 15th September-20th October; (ii) selecting cuttings of winter-hardy varieties which grow in the same year; (iii) immersing the cuttings in 0.2% potassium permanganate solution for 1-2 hours; (iv) removing leaves from the bottom 15-20 cm. and planting the leaf-free part in loose soil at an inclination of 45 deg or removing leaves up to 10 cm from each end of cuttings at least 35 cm long and planting the leaf-free 10 cm at both ends in loose, fertile soil at an inclination of 45 deg ; (v) ensuring a permanent wet environment; (vi) allowing the seedlings to overwinter in an uncovered state; (vii) after overwintering maintaining a constant moisture content in the soil (avoiding drying out); and (viii) watering the seedlings with 0.2% potassium permanganate solution twice per week and fertilizing twice per month.
