An electroceramic component comprises a ceramic body (1) with connecting metallizations (2,3) lying over the front sides of the body and a spinel ceramic protective sleeve (9,10) on the free surfaces (4-7) of the body. An Independent claim is also included for the production of the above component comprising stacking a ceramic laminate in the form of a foil with the component body and pressing together.
