The method involves deriving a control signal for a TV control amplifier for obtaining a video signal from an HF signal. The rising edges of the horizontal synchronizing pulse are derived from the video signal and the analogue magnitude of the pulse is measured within the pulse period and delayed with respect to. the rising edge, the analogue value is digitized (ADW1) and passed to a microcomputer (MR) that derives a digital control value that is converted (DAW1) to analogue form for the amplifier (RVr).
