Molding tool consists of a first category of tool parts having complicated geometry of mold-producing contours and/or smaller dimensions and being laser-sintered; and a second category of tool parts having a simple geometry of mold-producing contours and/or larger dimensions not suited for finishing by laser sintering and consisting of cast parts that are close to the final contour. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the molding tool, which comprises: (a) producing the first category tool parts; (b) producing the second category parts; and (c) joining the two tool types of tool parts. The crude tool parts are produced by determining the geometry data of intermediate molds whose casting delivers the crude tool parts to finish the tool parts of the second category; producing the intermediate molds by sintering the molding material and subsequently hardening or second casting a model in the molding material, where the molding material is selected so that it maintains the load by single casting with the casting material in the next step; and casting the metallic material in the intermediate molds.
