FIELD: wood-working industry. SUBSTANCE: method consists in vacuum drying by heating of materials and vacuum treatment, the material is additionally subjected to the effect of ultrasonic-frequency vibrations, heating of the material is effected by the action of the high-frequency electromagnetic field and/or of the ultrasonic- frequency electromagnetic field; material heating, vacuum treatment and action of the ultrasonic-frequency electromagnetic field on material are accomplished simultaneously. According to the vacuum treatment of articles of wood, the process includes heating of the material of articles and vacuum treatment, the material of articles of wood are subjected to the action of ultrasonic-frequency vibrations, heating of the material of articles of wood is effected by action of the high-frequency electromagnetic field and/or of the ultrasonic-frequency vibrations at a specific power of 15 to 25 kHz, vacuum treatment is accomplished at a residual pressure of 0.0001 to 700 mm Hg, (1,33×102-9,33×104 Pa), and material heating is accomplished under the effect of high-frequency electromagnetic field at specific power of 1 to 30 kW/cu.m and frequency within 1 MHz to 20 GHz. The device for vacuum treatment of articles of wood, mainly of veneer, has a material heating means, vacuum chamber with a means for arrangement of the article of wood, means for vacuum treatment and removal of moisture, additionally it has a means of action of ultrasonic vibrations on the material of the articles of wood, means. The device is made in the form of a magnetostriction radiator, and the means for action on the material of the articles of wood by the effect of the ultrasonic-frequency vibrations is installed in the means for arrangement of the article of wood, for example, in a plane platform.
