PURPOSE: A system for informing a stock price and information of the company and a method for providing information are provided to obtain information necessary for an investment by classifying companies and providing a new stock exchange index based on the classification with the total company information. CONSTITUTION: A company classification database comprises a selling composition, a technique level, and a weight of an information request of an investor. A company information database accumulates company information with respect to a company classified in the company classification database. A stock exchange index calculating program calculates a stock exchange index based on the classification. A server provides data created in the stock exchange index calculating program. The selling composition is formed by adding a rate of a main product and other products to a weight. The technique level comprises items of a material, a material industry, a combined device industry, an application technique, an application service technique, an object service technique, a reference technique, and a related technique. The weight and the company information are fixed by a user voluntarily.
