PURPOSE: Provided is an in vitro method for screening protein inhibitors and antifungal agents which inhibit the functions of unknown substances suspected of involving in the process of translation. CONSTITUTION: The in vitro method for screening protein inhibitor and antifungal agents is characterized by: i) using both extract manufactured in fungus cells and the solution containing mRNA of luciferase for protein synthesis; ii) using a solution containing a sample and another solution containing no sample at the same time; iii) measuring the activity of the two solutions; and iv) determining that the sample has protein inhibitors or antifungal agents, when sample-containing solution shows lower activity of luciferase.
