PURPOSE: An apparatus for processing a packet data using a modem in a W-CDMA(Wideband-Code Division Multiple Access) communication system is provided to perform a packet transmission and receipt at a high speed by installing an E1 interfacing block in the modem and connecting the modem with a base station controller(BSC). CONSTITUTION: The first E1 interfacing unit(225) is connected with a base station controller(BSC) by an E1 line for receiving a traffic data inputted through the E1 line and interfacing the received traffic data. A demodulating unit(222) demodulates a baseband signal inputted through an RF module and outputs the demodulated packet data. A CPU(230) converts the traffic data interfaced in the first E1 interfacing unit(225) into a packet data by an interrupt to output the converted packet data, and converts the packet data demodulated in the demodulating unit(222) into a traffic data by a generated interrupt to output the converted traffic data. A modulating unit(223) modulates the packet data outputted from the CPU(230) and transmits the modulated baseband signal to the RF module. The second E1 interfacing unit(226) is connected with the BSC by the E line for transmitting the traffic data outputted from the CPU(230) to the BSC through the E1 line.
