PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method are provided to improve feedback cancellation performance and maximize usable gain by selectively performing feedback cancellation for a band requiring a lot of gains. CONSTITUTION: In a method, a white noise signal is divided into sub-bands through a multi-band hearing aids. A feedback path is estimated by using, as a reference input for an adaptive filter, only the constituent corresponding to a band having a largest feedback gain or a band having the largest gain of hearing aids from among white noise signals divided into sub-bands. Thus, usable gain of the corresponding band is maximized by limiting acoustic feedback in a selected frequency band.
