The invention describes a process for obtaining wood chips or pellets from green cuttings, characterized by the following process steps: a) coarse precomminution of optionally predried green cuttings, b) screening of the coarsely precomminuted green cuttings to obtain a screening residue which consists predominantly of wood, c) fine comminution of the screening residue to form wood chips and, if appropriate, d) pressing of the wood chips obtained in step c) to form pellets.
