The actual total weight is determined by measuring the acceleration current strength (A) for the motor whilst the vehicle is carrying a load, measuring the degree of acceleration (B) caused by the acceleration current strength, and measuring the constant speed current strength (C) of the electric motor. (C) is subtracted from (A) and the resulting figure compared with (B) in order to calculate maximum speed, as determined by the maximum vehicle braking force.
