The proposed method of sorption-desorption photometric analysis for determining content of iron, as iron thiocyanate, in sodium, potassium, and ammonia thiocyanates consists in dissolving a sample of potassium, sodium, or ammonia salt, 2 ... 2.5 g inweight, in 25 ml of water, transferring a portion of the solution in a beaker, adding 1.5 ml of 0.2 M sulfuric acid solution and water up to the total volume of 25 ml, inserting pieces of ether-based foamed polyurethane in the beaker, removing air from the mix produced, and stirring the mix for approximately 30 minutes. Then the foamed polyurethane pieces are removed from the beaker, pressed between filter paper sheets, dissolved in 5 ... 10 ml of acetone, and stirred for 5 ... 10 minutes, the optical density of the acetone solution is measured, and content of iron is determined by using the measurement data. The proposed method provides the possibility to increase the accuracy in analysis for determining content of iron.
