The blue coloured, infrared and ultraviolet radiation absorbing glass composition has a base glass portion that comprises: i) Si02: 66 to 75 percent by weight ii) Na20:10 to 20 percent by weight iii) CaO: 5 to 15 percent by weight iv) MgO: 0 to 5 percent by weight v) Al203: 0 to 5 percent by weight and a solar radiation absorbing and colorant portion which consists of: i) total iron: 0.40 to 1.0 percent by weight ii) CoO: 4 to 40 ppm iii) Cr203: 0 to 100 ppm The glass has a redox of 0.35 to 0.60, a luminous transmittance of at least 55 percent at a thickness of 0.154 inches (3.9mm), and a colour characterised by a dominant wavelength of 485 to 492 nanometres and an excitation purity of 3 to 18 percent. The colorant portion of the blue glass composition can also comprise: i) SnO2: 0 to 2.0 percent by weight ii) CeO2: 0 to 1.0 percent by weight iii) TiO2: 0 to 0.5 percent by weight iv) ZnO: 0 to 0.5 percent by weight v) Nd2O3: 0 to 0.5 percent by weight vi) MnO2: 0 to 38ppm vii) MoO3: 0 to 100ppm viii) V2O5: 0 to 400ppm ix) NiO: 0 to 10ppm x) Se: 0 to 3ppm
