The method is for positioning a pile in and through relatively soft ground layers (2) with adhesive properties to a required depth in a supporting foundation layer (3) involves a steel pipe (4) closed at one outer end by a releasable foot plate (5). A plastic pipe (6) is pushed into the steel pipe and inside the plastic pipe a pile (7) is formed, which has a cross-section which is smaller than that of the plastic pipe. Through a relatively low friction force imparted by a casing the pile is separated from the plastic pipe. By drawing the steel pipe next to the foot plate and the pile with its surrounding casing at the same time the plastic pipe is left in the ground.
